MNPN Pray without Ceasing # 46
5 April 2010

CHURCH
  1. Pray for godly parental influence and instruction in the homes that our children will fill their minds with truth and build their lives on solid rock, Christ.
  2. Pray for wisdom and creative ways for parents to communicate biblical truths to their children.
  3. Pray for local churches to extend their hands as families to orphans and widows.

"Love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. Always remember these commands I give you today. Teach them to your children, and talk about them when you sit at home and walk along the road, when you life down and when you get up. Write them down and tie them to your hands as a sign. Tie them on your forehead to remind you, and write them on your doors and gates" (Deut 6:5-9, NCV).

1MALAYSIA
continue to pray:
  1. for the Government to have wisdom, sincerity, courage, political will and commitment to implement just and good policies; that it will not be intimidated by political opportunists, and it will reject extremism
  2. that all communities, regardless of ethnicity, will be able to see ourselves as rakyat of Malaysia, and rise above the sense of inferiority or superiority, together upholding justice and helping one another.
  3. for clean and good governance
    • "Between January and March, 76 government staff were detained for various offences. Also arrested were 12 people from the private sector, 54 members of public and two politicians, bringing the number of people detained to 144," reported theSun Daily (2/4/10).
EAST MALAYSIA
  1. Pray that the federal and state governments to walk their talk in developing Sabah and Sarawak, especially the rural areas, and review of their policies to effectively alleviate poverty and generate job opportunities
    • Former Chief Minister Datuk Harris Salleh estimated that at least 30% of Sabahans are under the new poverty index. "It appears that the government policies and programmes are not conducive nor productive in helping these rural people...The government stimulus packages and the subsistence on various consumer goods... do not contribute much to the rural economy... but only benefits the 'negotiated contractors' and foreign workers," he remarked. (4/4/10, http://www.dailyexpress.com.my/news.cfm?NewsID=71643).
    • The micro hydro-electric project, started in 2007, meant to benefit the villagers in Ba Kelalan and approved by the federal government with a big fund, did not appear to have taken off. Today, the villagers are still waiting for their power supply (2/4/10, http://www.theborneopost.com/?p=21030).
  2. Pray that the Christians continue to be steadfast in faith.
    • "Wait and trust the LORD. Don't be upset when others get rich or when someone else's plans succeed. Don't get angry. Don't be upset, it only leads to trouble. Evil people will be sent away, but those who trust the LORD will inherit the land." (Psalm 7-9, NCV)
